Atlanta School of Massage joins Green Spa Network’s Guiding Star Sponsorship Program

Atlanta School of Massage is the first massage school represented within the Green Spa Network which promotes the natural connection between personal wellbeing, economic sustainability and the health of our planet.

ATLANTA, GA (Vocus/PRWEB) November 13, 2010 — Leticia Allen, president of Atlanta School of Massage, the leading massage school in Georgia, attended the Green Spa Network Fall Congress 2010 in Avon, Colorado. Traci Daly, program director of the skin care division Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics and Edie Morton of Atlanta School of Massage also attended the conference.

Green Spa Network (GSN) is a community of vital wellness centers and their supporting resource partners dedicated to sharing intelligent practices, solutions, products, and services that bring prosperity to people and the planet.

While at the Congress, Atlanta School of Massage joined the “Guiding Star” sponsorship program. Atlanta School of Massage is the first massage school represented within the Green Spa Network.

“As a leader in education of massage therapy and skin care Atlanta School of Massage has an important role in guiding future spa professionals and sustainability is a key factor going forward,” said Allen, Atlanta School of Massage President. “I commend the actions and leadership GSN members have initiated. I am honored to make the financial contribution which supports the development, enhancement and refinement of the Green Spa Toolkit and SAT (Sustainability Assessment Tool).”

The Green Spa Network conference featured presentations from over a dozen pioneers and leaders in the sustainability and wellness movements including: mineral cosmetic company founder, Jane Iredale; National sustainability expert, Lewis Perkins; Whole Foods Market Nutritionist and Quality Standards Expert, Jody Villecco; noted editor and author from the beauty and cosmetic space, Rona Berg; founder of Intent.com, Mallika Chopra; award-winning documentary filmmaker, Greg Reitman; LOHAS Director and sustainability industry spokesperson, Ted Ning; and Executive Director of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, Lisa Archer.

Speakers’ topics included Food and Cosmetic Safety and Health; Sustainability Practices in Hospitality; and Transforming Spas into Vitality Centers.

Atlanta School of Massage first committed to the Green Spa Network mission pledge in 2009. Since then, it has been taking steps to implement sustainable business practices starting with the utilization of the Sustainability Assessment Tool and GSN toolkits.

In addition to recycling, energy and water conservation, Atlanta School of Massage has enhanced sustainability at its campus by purchasing non-toxic paint, carpet made of recycled materials and furnishings made from sustainable resources.
