Atlanta School of Massage featured in Atlanta Business Chronicle

The first massage school in Georgia marks its 30th anniversary and Atlanta School of Massage President Leticia Allen talks about the school’s history and her guiding vision and philosophy in the Atlanta Business Chronicle article, “Nurturing Touch Massage School Flourished in Young Industry.”

ATLANTA, GA (Vocus/PRWEB) January 10, 2011 – Atlanta School of Massage, the first massage school in Georgia, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Leticia Allen, president, explains her original vision, philosophy, and the history of the school in the recent Atlanta Business Chronicle article“Nurturing Touch Massage School Flourished in Young Industry” by Leslie Williams Johnson.

“We just believed very much in massage and in the power of nurturing touch,” Allen said.”We thought it was a good job, a good thing to do, a good contribution to people. When we started Atlanta School of Massage, there really was no massage to speak of. What I set as my first mission was to have massage as available as a haircut.”

David Littlewood, a student, was also interviewed for the article. He mentions the extensive research he conducted in order to find the highest quality massage therapy education. He chose Atlanta School of Massage because he was most impressed with the clinical time that students receive and the school’s accreditation in addition to Allen’s devotion. “Her professionalism and dedication to holistic services just speak for themselves,” Littlewood said.

The article reveals some of Allen’s successful business strategies including the launch of Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics in 2002 to provide a specialized aesthetics training program. Allen launched the program because she saw the need for better skin care services in addition to the opportunity to equip students with skills to make them even more competitive in the job market. “I knew what you could do with massage. I felt you could have the same kind of experience receiving a facial.” Allen said. “But this depends on the training of the person doing the facial, the quality of their touch. Our goal is to train excellent estheticians in order to enhance the customers’ overall experience when receiving skin care services.”
