ATLANTA (November 20, 2005) - Tanya Fry, teacher for the acclaimed massage school, Atlanta School of Massage, jointly authored a massage therapy case study published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies (2005) 9, 158-165. The case study involves the rehabilitation of a ruptured quadriceps tendon, further complicated by a post-operative wound infection and delayed surgical repair. The co-author of the article, Dr. John W. Xerogeanes, Department of Orthopedics, Emory University sustained the injury described in the article. Tanya Fry delivered massage therapy services as part of the rehabilitation effort. The case study emphasizes the importance of a ‘team’ of healthcare providers working in a coordinated effort to attain optimum recovery. In addition, it discusses the elements of the massage therapy component and how these are relevant to a complete pain free rehabilitation.
